Deer Valley is a renowned mountain destination in northern Utah, USA. It is 30 miles east of Salt Lake City and 2 miles from Park City. Known for its recreational activities, luxury properties, and breathtaking scenery, Deer Valley is considered one of North America's best mountain resorts.
Deer Valley East Village comprises five-star hotels, condominium buildings, mountain amenities, and skier services with breathtaking landscapes. A significant expansion project began, doubling the size of the resort and making it one of the largest ski resorts in the country; Gomez Vazquez International is part of this expansion with the design of Cormont, which is the lively heart of Deer Valley East Village, becoming the central spot that brings people together and fills the area with energy.
This inviting space will be the vibrant hub of Deer Valley East Village. It will capture the mountain spirit and create a warm gathering place where everyone can come together to enjoy all the village has to offer.
Inspired by the beauty of snow and ice patterns, Cormont's design captures the mountain's natural elegance while harmonizing architecture with nature. Cormont offers comfort and luxury through warm materials such as local stone and natural wood, reflecting a refined yet casual aesthetic that embodies Deer Valley's signature style. With our thoughtful design, we have created a destination where you can immerse yourself in nature without sacrificing the conveniences of modern living, a place steps away from mountain adventures.
Cormont comprises five residential buildings arranged in a horseshoe shape around a plaza designed to shield against wind and snow while offering welcoming space for gatherings and events. These buildings house 370 residences, each featuring zigzag balconies that add movement to the facades and frame spectacular views of the mountains, Jordanelle Lake, and the central plaza.
The ground floors of the residential buildings include 100,000 sf of commercial area, which activates the plaza throughout the day, year-round. These spaces range from exclusive brand-name stores and restaurants to family amenities and local shops.
The central plaza offers outdoor spaces such as an amphitheater, an ice skating rink, children's play areas, and more, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The Cormont Central Plaza design isn't just for winter; the facilities adapt for year-round use, allowing guests to continue enjoying them. One example is the skating rink, which transforms into a roller-skating rink in the summer, creating a dynamic space that evolves with the changing weather.
The main reason for positioning building amenities and public spaces within the structures was to take advantage of the surrounding views. In line with this idea, we created a large pool deck on the easternmost building to make the most of the views of Jordanelle Reservoir to the east. This remarkable deck features both outdoor and indoor pools, a spacious terrace, hot tubs, and a lounge area by the indoor pool. Located on the building's second floor, the pool deck floats above the landscape. It provides stunning, panoramic views to the east, with changing scenery throughout the seasons. This area offers a peaceful retreat, contrasting the energy of the central plaza.
In addition, amenities like après ski lounges, fitness centers, plunge pools, and saunas have been thoughtfully positioned in each building to optimize the surrounding views. These include Bald Mountain to the west, Jordanelle Reservoir to the east, Big Dutch Peak to the south, and Rossi Hill to the north. The buildings create inviting spaces for relaxation and reflection, offering stunning views of one of the world's most breathtaking mountain landscapes. We aim to craft memorable experiences and enhance natural beauty through careful design and strategic thinking to place every feature.
At Cormont, Gomez Vazquez International redefines luxury with signature hospitality for contemporary mountain resort living; we expand our architectural expertise into world-class mountain resorts.
